Greenville Eagles Awards Scholarships
Four $1,000 scholarships were awarded Dec. 24 to children of Greenville
Eagles members pursuing higher education. Congratulations to: Ryan
Rose, Brittany Bowers, Zac Guillozet and Holly Bruner. Pictured left to

Kiwanis
delivers as promised
Just before Christmas break, Kiwanis fulfilled its promise to deliver
cookies and juice to kindergarten, first and second graders who read a
new book at home with an adult in their family. The book, “The Joy of
Giving,” was handed out before the Thanksgiving break with the
requirement that the older students read the book to an adult at home,
and the younger students have the book read to them. They had to return

2011 Good Tidings for Horner
"There are so many things to be grateful for", said Elizabeth Horner, a
rising student of Greenville Senior High School. Horner has
several reasons to be especially grateful in 2011. She thanks
Superintendent Susie Riegle for bringing the Power of the Pen Program
to Greenville. "As we welcome the New Year, Greenville Junior
High will not only have a team competing but will be gearing up to host
the 2011 district tournament, a preparatory to the state-wide

Memorial Hall soon to be 100 years old
Help celebrate Darke
County’s history…
On May 3, 2012 St. Clair Memorial Hall will celebrate its first 100
years. Do you have photos, programs, stories or other memorabilia from
the Memorial Hall of years past? Memorial Hall, built with a $100,000
donation by Henry St. Clair and given to Greenville City Schools, is on
the National Register of Historic Places. St. Clair insisted, however,
that it be built next to the Carnegie Greenville Public Library... read

East Echoes performs for
Kiwanis
East Echoes, fourth grade students from Greenville’s East School,
performed a Christmas concert for Greenville Kiwanis Wednesday.
Boasting more than 30 members, the group will be giving 11 performances
in the community by the Christmas holidays. Kiwanis meets each
Wednesday at 12 noon at Chestnut Village Center, Brethren Retirement

Eagles Christmas Party for
Kids
Greenville Eagles 2177 held its annual Christmas Party for 107 children
and grandchildren of members Sunday. Kids got to tell Santa what they
wanted for Christmas, and received a toy especially purchased for them,
an orange and candy. New this year was a chance to decorate their own
Christmas cookie and get their faces painted for the holidays. Several
Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary volunteers worked as many as 60 hours
getting ready for the annual event... photos
