Fridays
with Erick Erickson: Gingrich
December 11, 2011
It
really is amazing to see Newt
Gingrich’s come back. I had written him off for dead before the summer,
as did
most other political observers. But he has come back largely on his
debating
skills. I’d pay big money to see him debate Barack Obama. It appears I
won’t
have to pay anything; it just might happen.
Gingrich
is going to come under
withering attacks in the next few weeks. Like Herman Cain, women will
start
coming forward. Unlike Cain, others will come forward who say
Gingrich’s record
is lousy. We’re going to see a close examination of Gingrich that will
make the
TSA examinations of 85 year olds look like no big deal.
The
thing Gingrich has going for him
is Christmas. The attacks will come as people prepare for the holiday
season.
People are starting to tune out. Many will tune out for these attacks.
Others
will have a “there they go again” attitude. If Gingrich can hold on and
get
some money, he may be the nominee.
That,
in and of itself, is amazing.
