They claim they approached Speaker Boehner about speaking to the nation on jobs next Wednesday. They claim Boehner was okay with it. Never mind John Boehner denies this all. Obama could count on his media playthings repeating his every word as gospel. 

But it did not fly. Even Democratic strategist James Carville thought the President should not try to schedule his speech the same night as the GOP debate. 

So the Obama Administration is left with only one card on the table: Blame Rush Limbaugh. According to White House sources, Rush Limbaugh blasting the idea of the speech is what made John Boehner deny the request. Rush Limbaugh. Apparently the President of the United States and his bully pulpit and taxpayer funded campaign buses are no match for one man with a golden microphone. 

Now Obama will speak on the night the NFL kicks off and Arizona plays Oklahoma State. The public has largely tuned Obama out already. His speeches have suffered declining ratings throughout his Presidency.
