Statement Regarding We Are Ohio
Ad
September 15, 2011
(Columbus)
- Jason Mauk, spokesman for
the Building a Better Ohio campaign, issued the following statement
today in
response to We Are Ohio’s latest television ad:
“If
there’s one thing you can count on
from opponents of Issue 2, it’s that they’ll never let the facts get in
the way
of a good story. This ad is nothing more than smoke and mirrors from a
campaign
that will say anything to keep voters from the truth. Opponents of
Issue 2 are
desperate to avoid talking about the substance of these reforms because
they
know the more Ohioans learn about them, the more they like.
Issue
2 simply asks our government
employees to earn their paycheck, in part, based on performance and to
pay at
least 15 percent toward their health care coverage and 10 percent
toward their
guaranteed pension. These are reasonable reforms that will restore
fairness
between public and private sector workers, while respecting the ability
of
taxpayers to pay the bills.”
