The
Supreme
Court’s Obamacare Ruling
by Bright
Knight
Anybody out
there who has expected this decision (click here for the full text of
the
Court’s decision)? I doubt it. I assume, that even the
Campaigner-in-Chief and
his liberal gang were surprised (they would never admit it...) unless
they knew
(maybe via Kagan?) how the Court will rule. The only real positive
thing out of
this ruling is the fact, that IMO it will (or at least should) mobilize
everyone who opposes Obamacare, because the only chance to get rid of
Obamacare
is getting rid of Obama himself and the liberal majority in the Senate!
So,
these 55%+ need to vote for “the other guy” and in the Senate races for
those,
who will vote for repealing Obamacare (hint: it will NOT be the liberal
candidate...). If Obama gets a 2nd term and/or the Liberals will keep
the
majority in the Senate, America will be D&G - and this doesn’t
mean Dolce
& Gabbana, it means Done & Gone!
Following
are some comments about the Court’s decision.
Breitbart
News writes:
In a
complex ruling, the Supreme Court has largely upheld the controversial
Obamacare law. The Court struck down the individual mandate as an
unconstitutional penalty under the Commerce Clause, but upheld it as a
permissible tax. It also limited the expansion of Medicaid spending
under
Obamacare, which states had argued was a violation of the Tenth
Amendment.
Overall,
the decision is a political victory for the Obama administration--but
may
energize conservatives to turn out to the polls in November, both to
back
Republican Mitt Romney’s promise to repeal the law, and to prevent
Obama from
packing the Court with liberal justices.
The weird
thing is (IMO) to strike down the individual mandate as
unconstitutional and
then allowing to tax those, who don’t purchase an insurance, i.e. it’s
basically an individual mandate through the back door: it’s
unconstitutional to
force you to buy but you’ll get penalized if you don’t buy. Weird...
Mike Flynn
at Breitbart brought up an interesting point! With the Court’s
decision, the
door is wide open for the government to regulate and tax whatever they
want.
Unconstitutional? Don’t care about it, we just tax it, because we have
the
power to do so:
This
morning, Chief Justice John Roberts joined the liberal wing of the
Supreme
Court to effectively remove all limits on federal power. While finding
the
individual mandate unconstitutional under the Commerce Clause, the
Court upheld
it as part of Congress’ taxing power. With today’s ruling, the federal
government can now regulate all aspects of our lives, as long as a
failure to
comply is construed as a “tax”. It is now up to us to to protect our
liberty.
It is
absurd to me that the Court can find a provision unconstitutional yet
let it
stand because Congress has taxing authority. What actual limit does
Roberts
thinks exist on federal power? Can Congress now impose a tax on news
articles
critical of government? It would obviously violate the 1st Amendment,
but, with
today’s ruling, it would fall under Congress’ taxing power...
As I wrote
above, it’s now up to We the People to make the final decision on the
ballot.
Flynn:
I will
leave the legal analysis to others. My portfolio is political. Today’s
decision
leaves us where we were when Obama and the left rammed the bill through
Congress--we have to go to the ballot box and elect representatives who
will
repeal ObamaCare and all of its disastrous consequences. Obviously, it
would
have been nice if the Supreme Court had struck down this enormous
expansion of
federal power. But, we rely on others to protect our freedoms at our
peril. We
have a choice and we damn well better act on it.
ObamaCare
will now be a central focus of the 2012 elections. In a little more
than a
year, this monstrosity, which very few people even understand, will go
into
full affect. It will forever change our relationship with health care
and the
federal government. It will set in motion a full government take-over
of the
health care industry. It is no surprise that shares of hospitals and
many
health care corporations surged on the news of the Court’s decision.
These
companies will reap the benefits of the government’s new-found ability
to
dictate our health care decisions. This will all happen...unless we
stop it.
Liberty is
not some “thing” enshrined in law or protected by august institutions.
It is
something within us that rises or falls in relation to our willingness
to
protect it. Sure, it would be nice if others did the heavy-lifting and
protected our rights, but that isn’t going to happen. We must do it.
Obama and
the left will get a temporary boost from today’s ruling. The media will
argue
that the issue is “settled” and urge us to move on. But, we must
redouble our
efforts to repeal the law. We must educate our friends and neighbors.
We must
elect representatives this November who are singularly focused on
reclaiming
our liberties.
Today,
please volunteer your time or donate money to a candidate committed to
repeal.
If you oppose ObamaCare, then the November elections are critical.
There is no
cavalry on the horizon. Its on us.
Sarah Palin
also agrees that the Court’s ruling will fire up all those who oppose
this
insane “reform”. About Obamacare and its effects, she says:
This proves
to be such an unsettling time in America as we undergo the fundamental
transformation that Barack Obama promised he would do to us if elected.
Obamacare was dealt in deception and confusion by flooding the public
with an
overwhelming amount of conflicting “rationale” via thousands of pages
of unread
legislative detail, which is the radical left’s M.O. Obama promised the
American people this wasn’t a tax and that he’d never raise taxes on
anyone
making less than $250,000. We now see that this is the largest tax
increase in
history. It will slam every business owner and every one of the 50% of
Americans who currently pay their taxes. The other 50% are being
deceived if
they think they’re going to get a free ride - because Medicaid is
broke.
Recipients of Obama’s “free health care” will have fewer choices and
less
accessibility. Trust me - this much more expensive health care WILL be
rationed; to claim otherwise defies all economic and common sense.
Once again,
she is right: those who think that under Obamacare everything is free,
will
have a bad, bad awake. They will see more and more rationing. The less
money is
available, the more rationing. First maybe no pacemaker for a 90 year
old...
then no hip-replacement for a 80 year old and at the end nothing at all
for
retired people, because they are not needed anymore and just cost
money.
Out-of-pocket payments will skyrocket, rising co-payments for the few
medications the insurance will cover, and so on. You think, that will
not
happen? OK, have a look to the UK, to Germany (yes, that’s the country
you are
told everything is free. HOGWASH! The co-payments are rising literally
on a
monthly basis). Obamacare is not a reform, Obamacare is a disaster -
and must
be stopped = repealed!
