Oh great… woman wins lottery, still gets food stamps

Not a day goes by that we don’t see a story of government stupidity. But some bring about an example that properly shows the entire picture of why the economy is collapsing and government sending is completely unsustainable. Specifically, abuse of entitlements. 

In this case, a woman recently won a million bucks in a state lottery. Why she was buying lottery tickets at a time when she “needed” food stamps to purchase food is a whole other conversation, but the fact remains she used her cash for them and tax dollars for necessities. Of the million, she was paid out $700K because she opted for a lump sum. After taxes, she says she got just over half of it, or more than $350,000. 

The woman paid cash for a new car and a new home. No house or car payment? That’s a lot more than a lot of income tax payers can claim. Most, in fact. Yet this woman is still using her food stamp debit card, which is funded with $200 a month.
