Federal
Bureau of Investigation: Harvest Time for Ohio Democrats
It’s
almost autumn in Ohio, which means football, foliage, and harvest
time. Ohio Democrats are ripe for the pickin’, and are being
harvested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Ohio
Democrats planted the seeds of corruption and scandal with former
State Representatives Clayton Lucke and W. Carlton Weddington, who
were gathered up by the FBI last year in a massive corruption probe.
Luckie and Weddington were both convicted for corruption charges such
as bribery, money laundering, and making false statements.
After
Weddington went to prison, Ohio Democrats appointed former Democrat
Ohio Treasurer Kevin Boyce to the Ohio House. Unfortunately, they
seem to have replaced one scandal-plagued corrupt politician with
another.
Boyce’s
former Deputy Treasurer Amer Ahmad, who most recently served as
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s comptroller, has been indicted by
federal prosecutors for bribery, conspiracy, money laundering, and
other charges of corruption.
Kevin
Boyce said he was “shocked” at Ahmad’s indictment. That’s
difficult to believe, as Boyce actually knew about the federal probe
of his office as early as November of 2010.
Unfortunately,
the embarrassment for Ohio’s Democrat circus doesn’t end with
Boyce and Ahmad. Democrat Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald was
recently caught breaking his own ethics laws. This is the same Ed
FitzGerald who claims to have cleaned up after the massive Democrat
corruption scandal that rocked Cuyahoga County just a few short years
ago.
Even
the liberal watchdog group Common Cause Ohio says that FitzGerald
broke the law.
But
FitzGerald’s ineptitude and hypocrisy doesn’t end there. Ohio
Auditor of State Dave Yost recently audited local governments’
compliance with Ohio’s sunshine laws, which set clear standards for
openness and transparency in government. The Columbus Dispatch
reported on FitzGerald’s dismal performance in this audit, saying:
“Cuyahoga
County, home to Cleveland, drew the harshest remarks in the
public-records audit. Some departments did not save sent emails, and
some officials could not prove they had attended state-mandated
public-records training.
The
county also lacked consistency in keeping public-records request
logs, and the sheriff’s office failed to track when it provided
records and did not keep copies of its responses to records requests,
the audit found.” (Dispatch, 9/12/13)
The
hypocrisy of Ohio Democrats seems to know no bounds. Unfortunately
for them, their actions are catching up with them. The Columbus
Dispatch recently reported on the FBI’s efforts to bring the
Democrat cabal to justice for their misdeeds. Don’t miss this
recent editorial: “FBI efforts are cleaning up Ohio.”
