Santorum
Condemns Houston for Violating First Amendment Rights
Verona, PA - Former Presidential candidate, U.S. Senator and Chairman
of Patriot Voices Rick Santorum issued the following statement today
regarding the actions by the City of Houston to violate our First
Amendment:
Rick Santorum said, "Many say fighting to protect our First Amendment
is a conservative issue. It is not. It is an American
issue. Regardless of one's religious or political views, we
should be extremely alarmed that any government in our country would
issue subpoenas to see if what an American citizen has said meets their
threshold of acceptable speech. That is not America."
"The constant drumbeat to weaken our First Amendment is real, and if we
- Republicans and Democrats - don't stand up to stop it, we'll look
back years from now and wonder what happened to our country," Santorum
concluded.
Rick Santorum has long been a champion to protect our First Amendment
rights. He authored the Workplace Religious Freedom Act which
protects citizens' religious beliefs in the workplace. EchoLight
Studios, of which he is CEO, has a film out, "One Generation Away,"
that highlights the erosion of religious liberties.
