Greenville’s Jazz Scene entertains Kiwanians

Greenville High School’s “The Jazz Scene,” under the direction of J.R. Price, provided the weekly program for Greenville Kiwanis in the Brick Room of Brethren Retirement Community recently.

In addition to a number of jazz selections, Kiwanians were entertained by a variety of 60s and 70s Rock & Roll hits, including Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4,” Motown’s “In the Midnight Hour,” Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” and more.

Price told Kiwanians that the jazz group had recently returned from Florida where they performed at the Nascar Café at Universal Studios and the City Park Band Shell at Disney World.

“They are also the first group ever to perform live at the Hard Rock Café,” Price said.

The Jazz Scene wrapped up their performance with what Price said seems to be the group’s signature closing, the Beatles classic, “Hey Jude.”

Greenville Kiwanis meets each Wednesday at BRC’s Chestnut Community Center.
