scholarships to five Darke County Students

The Darke County Senior Scribes Scholarship Fund made presentations to
four graduating seniors and a current college student Saturday night at
a dinner held in their honor at The Bistro Off Broadway.
One of the five scholarships, awarded to Margaret Prakel, Versailles
High School senior, was the Ralph “Fred” Wright Memorial Scholarship,
established by Darrell & Debbie Biddlestone. It was the first of an
annual presentation in Wright’s honor and was presented to Prakel by
the Biddlestones.
Prakel plans to attend Notre Dame and major in Communications.
Al Bliss, SSSF Committee Chairman, presented additional awards to
Greenville High School seniors Kent Holmes and Simon Hoying, both of
whom plan to attend Ball State University for Broadcast Journalism.
Also awarded was Versailles High School senior Jessica Barga, who plans
to attend Miami University as a Communications major.
Edison Community College student Kayla LeMar was awarded her
scholarship for her educational goals in Communications. LeMar, a
Greenville resident, was Homeschooled and a former Teen Advocate editor.
More than 30 people, including relatives, friends, Senior Scribes and
SSSF Committee members, attended the recognition dinner. The SSSF
Committee includes: Al Bliss, Chairman, Lyn Bliss, Secretary, Al
Greiner, Treasurer, and members Delbert Blickenstaff, Phyllis Mong,
Marianne Clark and Bob Robinson.
Since 2009, The Scholarship Fund has presented more than $11,000 in
Scholarships and other assistance to Darke County youth planning to
enter a communications-related field. Previous Scholarship Award
Winners: Jordan Pridemore, Sam Armstrong, Tiffany Beumer, Sean Wolfe
and Dorothy Gilbert.
