Five Darke County students get nod for scholarships

GREENVILLE─The Senior Scribes’ Scholarship Fund recently announced the recipients of its 2011 Scholarship awards. After evaluation by a committee, the following Darke County students were each chosen as recipients of a $1,000 scholarship.
 
Margaret Prakel, a student at Versailles High School, will receive the Biddlestone “In Memoriam Fred Wright Scholarship.” Prakel plans to attend Notre Dame and major in Communications.
 
The four additional scholarship recipients are:

Jessica Barga, a student at Versailles High School, is planning to attend Miami University and major in Communications.
 
Kent Holmes, a student at Greenville High School, is planning to attend Ball State University and major in Broadcast Journalism.
 
Simon Hoying, a student at Greenville High School, is planning to attend Ball State University and major in Broadcast Journalism.
 
Kayla LeMar, a homeschooled graduate, is planning to attend Edison State Community College and major in Communications.
 
The scholarship recipients will be recognized at an awards banquet to be held at 6 p.m. on April 23 at the Bistro in Greenville. Tickets for the banquet are $20 per person, including tax and tip.
