2011 Trash Bash A
Huge Success!!
Just a week ago, Darke County Roadways were littered with all sorts of
trash and recyclables. On April 9 & 10, 2011, our county
roads became less littered thanks to the help of over 900
volunteers. The volunteers removed 3.17 tons of recyclables and
4.83 tons of trash from area roadways in just a couple of days.
That’s 8 tons of debris that has now been properly disposed of or
recycled!!!
For their time, volunteer groups were awarded monetary awards to be
given to the Darke County non-profit organization of their
choice. Volunteers were also given bright green t-shirts for
their safety, recycled tote bags and other goodies for their
participation. T-Shirts and other goodies were partly funded by
the following donors: Greenville ACE Hardware, The Andersons Marathon
Ethanol LLC; Classic Comfort Wood Stoves; Greenville National Bank,
McDonald’s, Randy Fourman Construction, Rumpke, Second National Bank
division of the Park National Bank, Wayne Healthcare, Kesco Products,
GPS Computer Service & More LLC, Mote and Associates, Chicken
Kitchen II, Mikesell Monograms, Larry Fourman Construction,
Eldora Speedway, Medicine & More, Hittle Pontiac-Cadillac-GMC,
Family Health, Kroger, K-Mart, and Dickman Supply.
A special thank you goes out to the employees from the County Highway
Garage who drove around picking-up all the trash bags!!! These
employees hauled numerous dump trucks full of trash and recyclables to
Rumpke for proper disposal and recycling. Rumpke Consolidated
Companies donated all disposal costs and their employee costs for this
event!!!
The Darke County Solid Waste District would like you to know that the
district’s events would not be possible without the help of volunteers
and the support of other county agencies. The district would like
