Trumpets, tubas, flutes, amongst other intruments, were included in
what could have arguably been the main event at the fairgrounds on
Monday. For only three dollars a ticket, fairgoers were treated to the
sights and sounds put on by many different bands.
Various bands participated in this turnout, including, but not limited
to, Tri-Village, Missinawa Valley, Ansonia, Bradford, and our hometown
of course, the Greenville Marching Band of Pride.
There was an assortment of music going on throughout the two hour
presentation; it ranged from old classics such as “Blue Suede Shoes” to
popular tunes such as “Thriller”. Each band had its own style of music,
so it was sure that nothing would be boring during the presentation.
A participant of Greenville’s Marching Band, Jensen Shiverdecker,
stated that “[For] the time span we had to execute the performance,
everything came together. We still need to work some things out, but
overall we did well.”
And the crowd seems to have agreed, from the turnout of people to the
clapping and participation in the songs.
“They totally blew us away,” I had, pun-intended, said. The fairgoers
at Darke County’s 155th celebration had to agree.
