JJS Rosie takes Race 2 on the Opening Night of Darke County Fair
Harness Racing

GREENVILLE - When Greenville native Tim Harless watched JJS Rosie
racing on television in New York, he watched a horse that struggled.
He also saw a horse he thought he could help.
He told his long time friend Cindy Austen about the horse, saying he
could purchase the horse for very little money.
Austen, who had always wanted her own horse, jumped on the chance and
the deal was done.
The first few races out of the gate were rough and Rosie wasn’t doing
very well.
After consulting a few experts, Harless, who was training Rosie, made
some changes, finding what worked for the six year old.
Last week in Celina, Rosie got her first win for Austen.
Friday, at the Darke County Fair, Rosie took first again.
Both wins for Austin and both coming with Devon Miller doing the
driving.
While Austen and Harless both declined an interview, stating
superstitions as to the reason, it was clear that both were pleased
with the investment that had been made.
“I’m very superstitious when it comes to talking about my horse,”
Harless said.
With only eight races on tap for the opening night of the fair, action
was short with the card being completed in less than two hours.
