Saturday harness racing

GREENVILLE- Twelve races highlighted the racing program Saturday
afternoon at The Great Darke County Fair with nine more being contested
Saturday night.
Hollansburg and Darke County native, trainer Kent Wilcox, picked up two
big wins in the day session. Wilcox got his first of the day in the
third as You Don’t Get It paced his way to the winners circle in a time
2:02, beating out Ty Me To B Bluegrass by a neck. Wilcox was all smiles
when Charley’s Fastcat won in the fifth with a mark of 2:04.2.
Other local horses also had good showings.
In the second, owner Ronald Wuiber (Versailles) was second with his
horse Look What A Dive was second while owner Mandy Jones (Greenville)
got a second in the seventh with Shakin My Moni Maker.
In the ninth race, Greenville owner Paul Sherwood picked up a first
with Stormy New York as owners Mary Jean and Roger Walls (Greenville)
was first in the tenth with Moms Pacific Flight. Owner Chris Gilbert
(Greenville) was third in the eleventh with She’s My Cherry Pie.
In the nightcap, nine races were on the card with two of the first
three races having photo finishes.
The opener needed the camera to determine second and third place as Fun
In The Halls nosed out Lookin Ata Sadie while in the third it took a
picture to determine where Suncapade, American Friske and Friskie L
would finish. Suncapade won the race and remained undefeated in six
races with a time of 2:02.3.
The highlight of the night came in the eighth race. With Big Affair In
Town leading the whole time, it was a race that was decided in the
final eighth of a mile. Running a close second, Noble Hubie, driven by
Stephanie Huebner, made her move in the final turn, getting past driver
Dick Holsapple, to get the win.
Two Signature Series races were contested as Junior Jessie won the
inaugural Rhys Bowman pace in the fourth in 1:58.4 with Watch Me Wake
winning the trot in the seventh with Roy Wilson driving.
Racing action will resume on Wednesday at two sessions starting at 1
p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Admission to the grandstands will be free.
