A number of new records were set by the Domestic Arts department during
the 2011 Great Darke County Fair. Harry Niswonger, an
accomplished, eighty-five-years young woodworker, won two
rosettes. And he was a first time exhibitor!
Nine hundred and seventy-one items made by 217 exhibitors were entered
in Domestic Arts. A group of items represented three
generations. Mother, Eileen McKnight; daughter, Belinda
Rismiller; and granddaughter Rachael Rismiller.
Exhibitors receiving ribbons had the opportunity to participate in
Thursday evening’s revue emceed by Betsy Nisonger and Betty
Nichols. Other members of the Domestic Arts staff who assisted
during the revue as well as throughout the week were Marilyn Leisure,
Jackie Kimmel, Joyce Barga, Marilyn Hummel, Charlotte Threewits, and
Pam Clum.
