Darke County Residents earn Hospice Certification

State of the Heart Hospice...

Several State of the Heart Hospice staff members recently earned the Certified Hospice & Palliative Care distinction following the completion of a required course and examination. From the Darke County office, Kim Livingston, Stacy Fry, Susan Elifritz, and Heather Bankson have all achieved this certification over the last few months.

“Earning this certification takes considerable studying, followed by an intensive examination,” said Kelley Hall, State of the Heart Education Coordinator.

Kim Livingston, Darke County Team Coordinator, said of her certification, “It shows my desire and dedication to our agency and to the mission to provide pain and symptom management at the end of life to ensure quality of life for our patients and their families.”

Susan Elifritz, hospice aide, said, “I feel good about my certification because I have more confidence while caring for my patients.”

Stacy Fry, hospice aide, said, “With my recent certification I have been given a better knowledge and understanding on how to provide good end of life care for patients and their families. I love what hospice stands for. I could not see myself working anywhere else.”

Nineteen staff members at State of the Heart have earned certification in Hospice and Palliative care. “The certifications speak well for the expertise that our staff has,” Hall adds. “Earning this distinction is a plus for those we care for as the end result is the very best in care for our patients.”

Other State of the Heart staff members who recently earned the Hospice and Palliative Care certification are Jennifer Ralston, Joyce Steinke, Kerri Lake, Nicki Alfrey, Anita Best, and Barb Crocker.
