THE
DONKEY’S STORY
The
journey grew long; I jogged to the
song
Of an echoing, clip-clopping beat.
A rapturous air encompassed the pair
As we passed through the Bethlehem
street
Brave
Mary was tired; kind Joseph
inquired
At the inn, but no room for the blest.
The stable was all; a lowly straw
stall
Gave the weary warm welcome and rest.
Amazed
shepherds heard the angels’
glad word,
From the host rose the heavenly ring.
They came to the manger to see the
small stranger,
Kneeling prayed at the feet of their
King.
The
three from the East on tall,
desert beast.
Wise men led by the radiant star,
Bowed down and adored their
long-promised Lord,
Brought Him gifts they had carried
from far.
I
munched the clean hay where Christ
softly lay,
Humbly looked on His beautiful face.
I saw Holy love, bright light from
above;
There beheld all God’s glory and
grace

SPECIAL
DELIVERY
Some
toddlers just seem to snap
When they’re put on Santa’s lap.
They see his face is hairy
And find it kind of scary_
Children
squirm and scream and cry.
But Santa’s a wise old guy.
When it comes to wanted toys,
Santa knows his girls and boys.
Though
their chance to share is
missed,
He still brings their Christmas list!

CHRISTMAS
When
the wind nips at your nose
And sends a thrill down to your toes.
When children are flushed of cheek,
Excited with every word they speak;
And eager eyes brighten at a toy
display—
Christmas is not far away.
When
the house bustles with a busy
air,
And spicy pine is everywhere.
Gay packages sparkle ‘neath the tree,
And empty stockings say, “Fill me!”
When the whirl quickens with every day—
Christmas is not far away.
When
all glistens in a dress of snow,
And merry carols set your heart aglow.
Church bells ring their beckoning call
Wishing peace and happiness for all.
When friends and foe join hands to
pray—
Christmas is not far away.
