Greenville Eagles…
Old fashioned entertainment and great food
By Bob Robinson
Feb. 10, 2011
About 150 Eagles members and their guests enjoyed a great steak dinner
and dancing to “The American Kings,” a 50’s and 60’s Rock ‘n Roll band,
last week. It was the Lodge’s monthly “steak dinner and dance” held on
the first Saturday of each month during the winter.
Couples and singles of all ages danced, twisted, hoola hooped, tapped
their toes, and just “listened” to their favorite oldies, ranging from
“Louie Louie” to “The Stroll.”
In an age where singles and couples have a hard time finding a place to
relax, enjoy a good meal and listen to great music, the monthly Eagles
event at its downtown facility on Third Street, plus regular open juke
box, DJ’s or Karaoke on weekends, Eagles 2177 is an (almost)
undiscovered treasure trove of adult family brotherhood and
entertainment.
The Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) 2177 and Ladies Auxiliary is one of
hundreds of non-profit fraternities throughout the state under the
auspices of the Ohio Grand Aerie. Specific games of chance, as well as
great prices for spirits, are allowed for members under Ohio law.
In addition, The Eagles offers billiards, Wii and a hotspot for your
computer laptop. Every Friday night a different dinner special is
offered; on Wednesdays enjoy tenderloins or “anything that floats” from
the Eagles grill. Breakfast and lunch is open daily to the public.
Member support and the efforts of its volunteers allow the Eagles to
give back to its community. Thousands of dollars each year go to local
charities and area young people. Scholarships totaling $4,000 were
awarded to teens going to college in December.
The organization has sponsored and funded Greenville’s Independence Day
Celebration for the past five years, with the last two at its facility
on Shade Road. This year’s event is planned as a two-day Celebration,
culminating in the largest fireworks display in Darke County on Sunday,
July 3.
The Eagles also offers reasonable rentals for private parties at both
Shade Road and Third Street.
Sound like something you would like to be a part of? Call 937-548-7785

fill out an application. Membership in the Aerie is open to men and
women, while Auxiliary membership is for the ladies. Applicants must be
21 and pay nominal initiation fees plus an annual membership… however
the experience pays for itself ten-fold.
