PCI Joins Forces with Youth-Oriented
Nonprofit, The Light Foundation
Industry leader in alternative fuels to offer learning and mentoring
opportunities for at-risk teens enrolled in Foundation’s groundbreaking
programs
UNION CITY, Indiana….Productive Concepts International (PCI), an
industry leader in alternative fuels conversion technologies and
systems, recently announced a partnership with New England Patriot Matt
Light to help at-risk youth from all over the country achieve their
goals by supporting the incredible mission of Light’s youth-oriented
nonprofit, the Light Foundation.
Based in Union City, Indiana, a short distance from the Light
Foundation’s Chenoweth Trails Camp in Greenville, Ohio, PCI is an
industry leader in alternative fuels conversion technologies and
systems. The company’s expertise lies in its ability to convert
gasoline and diesel powered vehicles to run on cleaner burning and
lower cost alternative fuels such as compressed natural gas (CNG),
liquid propane gas (LPG) and electricity (hybrid and
all-electric). PCI converts thousands of vehicles per year for
customers such as General Motors, UPS, Navistar, Indiana Department of
Transportation, National Bus Sales and others at their state-of-the-art
conversion center in Union City and they employ over 70 workers.
PCI President Rob Lykins, a Union City native and 1987 graduate of
Union City Community High School, is proud of PCI’s partnership with
the Light Foundation. “Since getting to know Matt and learning about
his Foundation, I’ve been very impressed with what he represents and
the work he and his staff does in our community to help our youth grow
and learn about hard work, perseverance and accountability,” said
Lykins.
“I have great respect for what the Light Foundation has accomplished
since its inception a decade ago, and I’m excited about what the future
holds for everyone involved – especially the kids. PCI is proud
to join the Light Foundation team, and we will support its mission and
participate as a source of learning and education by offering plant
tours of our operations to the kids involved with the program,” he
added. “I want to thank Matt and his team for the opportunity to
join such a wonderful organization.”
Matt Light welcomes PCI to the team of companies that support the
Foundation’s many initiatives. “I am very grateful for Rob’s
continued participation as a community leader and businessman who
provides, with help from his staff, teaching moments for these
kids. Many of them need mentors who can show them different
career prospects, and the benefits of hard work,” added Light. “They
are providing critical opportunities for these teens to break the cycle
of bad choices and pursue a path to success.”
The Light Foundation runs many programs throughout the year, but its
main initiative is its two-week Camp Vohokase program at its Chenoweth
Trails facility. The boys participate in trail-based activities
that include hunting, fishing and archery, complete a community service
project, visit area businesses like PCI during career day, and engage
in “fireside chats” about goals and expectations.
“The main goal of the Camp is to break down prejudices and barriers,”
says Light. “At the end of the day, these kids realize that even
with different backgrounds, they have a lot in common, like family
issues, and peer pressure – but they find common ground and learn from
one another. It’s always a great experience for all of us.”
