DARKE T.E.A. PATRIOTS
February 12, 2011
MEETING REPORT
The DARKE T.E.A. PATRIOTS meeting held on Saturday February 12, 2011 at
the Wagon Wheel Dining Room on Sweitzer Avenue was intentionally
different than our typical meetings and was very informative.
Our featured speaker was Paul Lambert from EducateOhio. EducateOhio is
an organization which encourages and facilitates informed participation
of citizens in the governance of their school districts. It was founded
by a group of people who had independently sought to understand the
financial underpinnings of Ohio's public school system, and in the
process found one another. Mr. Lambert is a member of the Board of
Education in the Hilliard City School District.
The second speaker from Speaker Boehner’s District Office, Frank
DeBrosse had to postpone his presentation because Speaker Boehner
called a surprise staff meeting in Washington D.C. Mr. DeBrosse
scheduled his March 12 day to include a DARKE T.E.A. PATRIOTS meeting.
Paul Lambert’s presentation was planned for approximately thirty
minutes. Based on the questions asked and the obvious level of interest
and the lack of modern power point presentation projector, Mr. Lambert
talked for almost an hour. Of the many significant points presented, he
concluded with the following key elements of his presentation:
1. Your primary focus is to elect knowledgeable dedicated individuals
to the Board of Education of your schools,
2. Learn the details of your schools Board of Education – Teachers
Association Labor agreement, and
3. Study all the facts and sources of information presented by the
school in the five year forecast.
If you would like to obtain a Labor agreement for your school or the
current five year forecast, please contact Al Bliss at 548 5687 or
abliss@woh.rr.com.
The meeting finished with three excellent and short presentations by
Thomas and Denis Subler and Bob Ruschau regarding the Versailles School
System.
The next DARKE T.E.A. PATRIOTS meeting will be held on March 12.
The time and place have not been determined --- so keep your eyes
peeled for a notice in the paper or on a local website. If you care
