Memorial Hall soon to be 100 years old

Help celebrate Darke County’s history…

On May 3, 2012 St. Clair Memorial Hall will celebrate its first 100 years. Do you have photos, programs, stories or other memorabilia from the Memorial Hall of years past?

Memorial Hall, built with a $100,000 donation by Henry St. Clair and given to Greenville City Schools, is on the National Register of Historic Places. St. Clair insisted, however, that it be built next to the Carnegie Greenville Public Library… where the high school, built in 1868, was located.

So they moved the high school.

Darke County Center for the Arts, with the cooperation and help of Garst Museum, the Greenville School District and interested residents, plans to celebrate the Hall’s 100 years with a special concert on May 5, 2012.

If you have or know anything that would enhance this celebration, please contact DCCA Art Director Keith Rawlins at 937-564-1883 or DCCA Board Member Bob Robinson at robinsonbob615@gmail.com.
