Lyn Bliss Honored for
Tribute to Women
By Kay Seiler
Recently, Lyn Bliss, Greenville, was an honoree for the Tribute to
Women which was held at the Worthington Country Club in Columbus.
This was the Ohio Federation of Republican Women’s biennial celebration
of the leadership capabilities, community contributions, and personal
values of women who belong to Republican Women’s Clubs in Ohio.
The first tribute was held in 1980. This year, 22 outstanding
women from all over Ohio were recognized.
The Darke County Republican Women’s Club selected Lyn Bliss as their
Woman of the year. She was awarded commendations from Congressman
John Boehner, along with Governor John Kasich, U.S. Senator
Rob Portman, State Representative Jim Buchy, State Representative Dick
Adams, Darke County Commissioners, Mayor Mike Bowers, Kevin
DeWine of the Ohio Republican Party and the National Federation of
Republican Women’s Club President, Sue Lynch. These were
presented to Lyn by the President of the Ohio Federation, Jean
Turner.
Sally Zeiter, President of the Darke County Republican Women’s Club
proudly accompanied Lyn along with members, Wavelene Denniston, Vivian
Foreman, Dori Howdieshell, and Kay Seiler.
Speaker for the occasion was Debe Terhar, President of the Ohio Board
of Education. To begin her speech she compared herself to Lyn,
using Lyn’s bio in the program book. We felt very proud of Lyn,
that she was singled out.
At a recent meeting of the Darke County Republican Women’s Club,
Wavelene Denniston shared with those present, Lyn’s attributes of
leadership, community contributions and personal values. Lyn said
that receiving this award was something she would never forget and
thanked everybody.
