Angela Borgerding is Greenville High School’s Class of 2011 Valedictorian; Prital Mehta is the Class Salutatorian.
Greenville High School graduated 247 students Saturday night, with two
GHS Key Club officers earning the top recognition. Borgerding, among
her other activities, was Vice President of the Key Club. Mehta, among
her other activities, was the Key Club Secretary. Both students were
among the first in the club’s history to volunteer more than 100 hours
of service to their club and the community.
In addition, Borgerding was involved in cross country, swimming, track,
band, National Honor Society, Student Council and was a Wayne
Healthcare Candy Striper. Mehta’s other activities were Spanish Club,
S.A.D.D. Club, the National Honor Society, a Brethren Retirement
Community and YMCA volunteer, and was a Wayne Healthcare Candy Striper.
Both students plan to attend Wright State University. Borgerding plans
to follow a pre-medicine track in preparation for medical school. Mehta
plans to major in biological sciences or pre-medicine.
Another Key Club officer, President Kent Holmes, finished third in the
graduating class. In addition, he was president of the Student Council,
played on the tennis team, was the recipient of a scholarship from the
Senior Scribes Scholarship Fund, wrote and produced several plays and
movies, and more. As president of the Key Club, he also worked more
than 100 hours of community and club service. He will be attending Ball
State University in Broadcast Journalism.
CNO Editor and Kiwanis Key Club Advisor Bob Robinson said he was proud of the accomplishments of these kids.
“The top three students in this year’s graduating class were all Key
Club officers,” he said. “Not a one of them said a word to me about
these accomplishments… they were too busy accomplishing. These are
terrific kids. All of them.”
CNO congratulations also goes to three other Senior Scribes Scholarship
Fund scholarship recipients who graduated this spring: Simon Hoying,
Greenville High School, who will attend Ball State University in
Broadcast Journalism; Jessica Barga, Versailles High School, who plans
to attend Miami University in Communications; and the recipient of the
Ralph “Fred” Wright Memorial Scholarship, Margaret Prakel, Versailles
High School, who plans to attend Notre Dame and major in
Communications. A fourth scholarship went to Kayla Lamar, who was a
home school graduate last year, a former Teen Advocate editor and is
currently attending Edison Community College.
