Midmark Foundation
Supports Garst Museum’s Education Program
Dr. Clay Johnson, executive director of the Garst Museum and Mitch
Eiting, with the Midmark Foundation, display some of the materials used
in the museum’s fourth grade history education program for local school
children. The Midmark Foundation supported this far-reaching
educational program with a recent grant.
The museum’s school program is provided at no cost to the county’s
fourth grade students. As part of the program, which is compliant with
state curriculum standards for the fourth grade level, every student
receives a take-home packet about their museum experience. They also
are treated to an amazing visit with a re-enactor who transforms what
they have just seen and heard into a reality they can relate to.
Dr. Johnson stated, “We are excited that the Midmark Foundation grant
will allow the Garst Museum to continue providing the county’s students
a fun and unique educational experience. The program is very popular
with local educators and our docents enjoy interacting with the
children. The museum looks forward to a busy spring providing the
students a memorable educational opportunity.”
