GREENVILLE – “It’s a good thing we did not plan to meet in January or
February, we would have had to cancel anyway,” said Iris Prasuhn
addressing the Darke County Christian Women’s Connection during a
recent meeting at Bob Evans.
The group, formerly Greenville Area Women’s Connection – associated
with Stonecroft Ministries, is in the process of reorganizing and
making decisions regarding the path that will be followed.
Currently the plan is to meet three or four times a year. The group
discussed having speakers from our local area and giving support to
local charities.
Marlene Hinkle led the group in singing “My Wild Irish Rose” and “When
Irish Eyes are Smiling.” She also closed the meeting with “Amazing
Grace.” Hinkle played the Omnichord in accompaniment.
Barb Greiner presented information regarding the Grace Resurrection
Community Center. She outlined the history; current programs; and
future plans and goals. The Center provides a soup kitchen, food
pantry, and clothing bank. They have recently named a Board of
Directors and received not-for-profit tax status. The Center is
currently supported by community members and 18 churches in the area.
Marsh and Kroger grocery chains contribute food to the kitchen. Lunch
is served Monday through Thursday. A Friday evening meal is being
considered.
The group presented Greiner with a donation for the Center.
The group plans to meet next on June 16. For further information,
please contact Iris Prasuhn at (937) 548-7930.
