About 80 enthusiastic “players” generated nearly $2,500 for the Cancer
Association of Darke County Saturday night at the Greenville VFW.
Proceeds help local cancer patients with their treatment and other
expenses.
All games were hits - from the electronic bandits on the wall to two
Blackjack tables that stayed busy the entire evening. Other options
included a crowded craps table, playing the wheel and corn hole.
Silent Auctions included donations from a variety of businesses… the
big moneymakers were “A Taste of Darke County” and four tickets to the
Dayton Dragons with preferred parking. Players were able to “purchase”
dozens of door prizes with their winnings for the evening.
Event chairperson Dori Howdieshell, along with several other
volunteers, said the evening was a huge success… even better than the
year before.
According to Association President Deloris Beisner, the Association
assists local patients in paying for medications, mileage, medical
supplies, wigs and more. The Association was formed in 1995.
Volunteers for the evening were: Howdieshell and Beisner, Deltoids
Beisner, Barbara Fee, Hershel Fee, Betty Laughlin, Ray Laughlin, Becky
Saylor, Mike bowers, Kim Bowers, David Ernst, Sherry Marten, Jim
Detling, Bob Robinson and Eddie Grace Young. B&D Karaoke supplied
the music and announcements.
