Summer Youth
Employers Needed
You can make a difference in the life of a young person this
summer! The Council on Rural Services and WIA (Workforce Invest
Act) is looking for employers in Darke County that would like to serve
as host employment sites for the WIA Summer Youth Program.
Whether you are a profit or non-profit business, you can become a
summer employment/mentoring site for teens or young adults from July
5ththrough August 19th. Your business will have the opportunity
to work alongside the youth and provide the job training and mentoring;
Council on Rural Services will provide applicants, pay the wages, and
offer job support to the youth.
If you become a WIA Youth Program employer, you will have the
opportunity to provide job training to youth that want to create a
positive future for themselves and learn the right skills for the
future. This is a great opportunity for our local businesses to
furnish quality employment and training for our youth.
You will work in partnership with an agency that has served and
supported youth for 23 years. You will create a win-win
opportunity for your organization and area’s youth. You can
become part of the solution; you can give back to your community and
pay forward by helping youth transition into adulthood.
Take the initiative and call today; find out more information about
becoming an employment site. Michelle Miller-Elliott, Youth
Advocate at Gateway’s WIA Youth Program at 937-548-8002, is waiting to
talk with you.
WIA is funded by the Department of Labor/Workforce Invest Act through
Darke County Department of Job and Family Service and the Darke County
Commission.
