Development Program (IDP)
Committee of the Greenville Business & Professional Women’s
(BPW) Club
hosted the November 10th meeting which was held at the Brethren
Retirement
Center.
Jane
Carroll and Rebecca Zeedyk from
the IDP Committee planned an enjoyable and educational evening. Danielle Patel was invited
to speak before
the Club for the evening. Danielle
has
over 10 years of experience in the human resource field. She has worked with
Fortune 500 company
Capital One and most recently with Gaylord Entertainment, a leading
hospitality
and entertainment company. Danielle
has
experience in mass hiring, behavioral interviewing, process
improvement,
international recruiting and offer negotiation. She excels at dynamic,
proactive recruiting, and selecting and hiring top talent.
Danielle
gave an energetic
presentation entitled ‘Catapult Your Career and Personal Life – Tips to
Use
Now!’ She spoke on
four topics: generational
challenges, e-mail etiquette,
body language skills, and negotiations.
She encourages communication when dealing with
different
generations. Adapt
to each group for
success. When using
e-mail, respond in a
timely manner to requests and be genuine.
Body language is important.
Patel
suggests women should give a firm handshake, make eye contact and face
the
person head on during introductions.
Dress for success.
Wear one
statement piece! Danielle
covered 10
steps for successful negotiating.
She
ended her talk sharing something she always remembers…Three B’S:
Be
Bold! Be Brief!
Be Brilliant!
The
Club is working on their upcoming
fundraiser ‘Breakfast With Santa’.
This
event is scheduled for December 10, 2011 at 9:00 AM at the VFW Hall in
Greenville at a cost of $5.00. For

The
Greenville BPW Club’s mission is to
achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy,
education, and
information. The
Club holds fund raisers
throughout the year to raise money to grant scholarships to the young
women of
Darke County. The
Club meets the second
Thursday of every month for a dinner meeting.
