Teen Scribes... Dance, Dance, Revolution

Greenville
Senior High School’s
gymnasium turned into a dance floor late Saturday night. The annual
Homecoming
dance was lively as usual, perhaps livelier thanks to the win that the
Greenwave took on Friday’s Homecoming game.
The
theme centered around the main
fairy tale that had circled about the schools- Wonderland. Upon walking
into
the gymnasium late Saturday night, it was as if you had just stepped
into Alice
in Wonderland’s own little story.
While
the White Rabbit waited at the
front door, a covered entrance was adorned with icons such as pocket
watches.
Inside, strands of twinkle lights hung from the rafters, surrounded the
tables
and decorations. The Mad Hatter could be found waiting at the entrance,
or the
Cheshire cat on the back wall. The Suits of Playing Cards were also
“patrolling” around the stage. A photo booth, where one could pose as
the Red
Queen, was also set up.
And
of course- the floor had been
covered with tarp and mats for a better experience dancing. Soon, even
that was
invisible with the mass of swaying bodies that filled the room shortly
after
eight o’ clock.
Homecoming-
it’s a long-standing
tradition that even today, hasn’t failed to lose its wonder.
