Rain Couldn’t Dampen Spirits

Despite the rain, the cold temperatures, and the blustery, cold air, a multitude of people gathered around Broadway and further streets to witness the annual Homecoming Parade. This just proved a fact that didn’t need proven - Greenville does have spirit!

The parade started off with the ever-popular marching band blaring out the tune of “Onward Greenville!” It started the parade off in the right way and got the crowd ready to cheer on the rest.

Next followed the candidates for the Homecoming Court. Candidates for Chief Green Wave were Andrew Cech, Caleb Beasecker, Jonathan Edwards, Jacob Burk, Samuel Jones, Jacob Custer and Tyler Kuhn. Candidates for Queen included Sara Beanblossom, Kacie Foreman, Sarah Hemer, Nicole Raffel, Jenna Dowler, Anne Hemer and Alexis Sutherland.

After Homecoming Court came several different floats from the Senior High School, including French Club, SADD club, class floats, and more. The football team made an appearance on one truck, being cheered on as they went.

Other floats that followed included trailers from the Junior High and other respective schools in Greenville.

The theme of Wonderland and fairy tales was prevalant throughout the entire parade, and so, could it be said... Onward Greenville, on to... Wonderland? For the 2011 Homecoming, it seems to be perfectly appropriate.
