Big Brothers Big Sisters…
New BBBS Volunteers Announced
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Shelby & Darke County is pleased to
announce the newest volunteers in the core mentoring program.
Bethany Martin has been a volunteer for an after-school program through
Hands On West Central Ohio. She wants to continue mentoring as a
Big Sister because she enjoys volunteering and helping others.
Bethany enjoys walking her dogs at Tawawa Park, reading, scrapbooking,
playing video games, and watching movies. She likes that children
have a lot of spirit and looks forward to spending time with her new
Little Sister.
Janell Cisco is eager to get acquainted with her Little Sister.
She hopes to help a child learn to enjoy life. Janell enjoys
outdoor activities, running, and going to concerts, soccer games, and
OSU football and basketball games. Since her children are older
now, Janell looks forward to playing games again and having fun
together.
Jennifer Bumgarner lives in Sidney and is a newspaper reporter in
town. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors, pets,
gardening, reading, fishing, and hanging out. As she gets
acquainted with her new Little Brother, she looks forward to taking
walks, playing video games, and playing board games together.
Because she loves children, Jennifer has been a substitute teacher,
worked at the YMCA preschool, and volunteered at the Conservation Day
Camp. She admires the honesty in children. She wants to
develop a “connection” with her Little and to me a positive impact on
his life.
Brandon Gibbas, of Sidney, volunteered to become a Big Brother
volunteer mentor to share activities with his girlfriend, who is a Big
Sister. Brandon likes to play basketball, play video games, and
watch movies. He looks forward to developing a trusting
relationship with his new Little Brother by spending time together,
playing, talking, and interacting on an age-appropriate level. As
exercise is important to him, Brandon is eager to shoot hoops and walk
the dogs together.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Shelby & Darke County is a non-profit
United Way Member Agency, Lisa Brown, Executive Director. The program
specializes in mentoring children from “at-risk’ families with adult
volunteer Big Brothers and Sisters. These adults provide children with
positive role modeling, as well as new educational and social
activities. If you would like to become a volunteer and put a little
magic in the life of a child please call the BBBS office at 492-7611 or
