Introduction and photos by Jessica Transue...
My assignment was to take a trip to Bear’s Mill, an old building from
the late 1840s in Greenville, Ohio. Going to an antique place to “look
around” didn’t seem like much fun, but walking around with my best
friend and taking pictures of such unique architecture and pieces of
art was overwhelming. I took so many pictures; everywhere I turned I
saw something new and different. There were blue vases, flower
paintings, water-powered mills, and even miniature cute mice figurines.
The four-story building’s wooden floors were the only part that really
worried me, along with the steep stairs (to be expected because of the
mill’s age). If you stepped the wrong way you’d find yourself making
weird creaking noises and left with a feeling of “I’m about to fall
right through.”
Although I didn’t expect a great time at first, it was truly pleasant
and I would definitely go again.

Online suggests you stop by to visit, especially if you have never been
there before. The Mill features new artists quarterly, offers unique
quality gift items and promises a fascinating tour of a major part of
Darke County’s history... especially if Bear’s Mill “Mayor” Terry Clark
happens to be around. If you haven’t read Editor Bob Robinson’s book,
“God Don’t Make Junk,” you can find a copy of it on sale there.
