Senior Moments hold September
Meeting
By Lyn Bliss, Senior Scribe
September 6, 2011
Randall
and Carolyn Clay were absent
from Senior Moments for the September meeting. They were replaced by
Max and
Vernita, who led the well attended afternoon off with a great selection
of
musical favorites – both spiritual and patriotic. They then entertained
with a
few reminiscences of military life – in a humorous vein – along with
comments
regarding retirement.
Ned
Williaman and his daughter DeeDee
were the featured speakers, relating their experiences with
grandson/son
Derrick who was born prematurely weighing slightly over 2 pounds. They
explained the heartaches they faced and how their faith had gotten them
through
those first few trying days and weeks with a very ill Derrick.
At
the culmination of their talk,
Derrick joined the two on stage – a robust young man weighing in at
well over
200 pounds. The proud husband of Mandy – and father to be had a few
words of
encouragement for the group.
The
Senior Moments will be hosting a
Talent Show at its November 1 meeting and Splat Experience will return
for the
December 6 meeting. Meetings begin at 2 p.m. and are held at Romer’s in
Greenville. Public is invited.
