Six Bands, One Cause
By Dorothy Gilbert
On Saturday, August 27, six bands from the Winchester/Richmond gathered
together in support of the U.S. troops overseas.
Cougar Bait, The Benefit, Missunderstood, Pure Violation, Right Way to
Nowhere, and 4Ever Loud played 1-1/2 hour sets each at Goodrich Park in
Winchester, Indiana. Although the show was free, donations were
accepted. All monetary donations were given to the American Legion Post
#39 to create care packages for the men and women fighting for our
country. With $100 in donations, several packages were made.
Tony Hawley, lead singer of Pure Violation and Entertainment Advisor at
the Legion had this to say in a phone interview, “Yeah, it was kind of
my idea, but I would not have been able to do it with out all the bands
that gave of their time to support a great cause.”
So a huge thank is necessary. Thank you to Kathy, Goodrich Park
Director and Jeromy, the American Legion Advisor. Also to the bands, as
Tony had mentioned and to their loyal fans for backing up a serious
cause such as this. However, the biggest thank you goes out to our men
and women serving in our military.
Donations are still being accepted and the bands plan to have more
shows in support of the military.
