Three-Year-Old steals
show at Cruise In-Bike Show
Union City Birthday Bash...

Three-year-old Nathan Mayfield of Union City stole the show with his
2010 battery operated, red Power Wheel Scooter. When asked how
many miles he had on it, he shyly shrugged and said, “A lot.”
He was one of 45 participants who rolled down Columbia Street to attend
Union City’s 162nd Birthday Bash Cruise In-Bike Show. However
Nathan, oblivious to the award that was being nestled in his blanket at
the end of the show, was the only rider curled up sound asleep in a
little wagon.
Riders traveled from Muncie, Fort Recovery, Winchester, Ansonia,
Greenville, and surrounding areas of Union City to attend the third
annual Cruise In-Bike Show.
The first entrant for the Bike Show sponsored by the Union City
Downtown Revitalization Group was Kat Wasson Lubinski from Union
City. Soon after parking her 2003 Anniversary Edition Harley
Davidson, she pulled out cleaners and soft, terry towels and buffed the
Gun Metal Blue finish and silver chrome to a high shine. She said
that this was her second year for attending the bash and the first year
with her 03 HD Model FLHRI, which she has owned for fourteen months.
Kat, short for Kathy, said she purchased the 03 HD after traveling to
Mackinaw Island on a 2003 HD Sportster 883. Having long legs, she
was ready to purchase a larger bike when she returned home.
“My husband sold his Dodge Ram with Hemi so I could get this
bike.” She added, “Now that’s true love,”
Kat sold her 03 HD Sportster 883, a companion bike to the Anniversary
Edition Harley, to Carolyn Neargarder of UC, who also entered the show.
Older models in the show included a black 1946 Harley Davidson FL owned
by Kevin Bergman of Ansonia and a 2007 HD Sportster with a 1970s Jawa
Side Car owned by Carolyn Brant of Greenville.
People’s Choice Awards were presented to the following
individuals: Custom, Dennis Brewer; Stock, Ron Claywell;
Scooters, Nathan Mayfield; Classic, Kevin Bergman; Trikes, Drew
Wardlaw; 2 Up Ride-In, Troy Walker; Rat Bike, Carolyn Brant; and
Touring, Curt Ditmeyer.
Rick Clear served as emcee and Brian Rodgers provided music from the
50s, 60s, and 70s.
