Dunbar High
Sports Teams Receive Senate Honors
State Senator Bill Beagle...
COLUMBUS— The Ohio Senate today recognized a pair of championship teams
from Dayton’s Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. State Senator
Bill Beagle (R – Tipp City) led his Senate colleagues in commending
Dunbar’s boys’ basketball and boys’ indoor track squads.
Though it is common practice for lawmakers to recognize the
acheivements of Ohio’s student-athletes, it is rare for multiple teams
from one school to be honored on the same day.
Led by Head Coach Peter Pullen, the Dunbar High Wolverines captured the
Ohio High School Athletic Association Division II State Title with a
54-52 victory over Elida in March. The track team also claimed
top honors in Division II as they snagged the state championship in
boys’ indoor track.
Sidney Booker serves as Head Coach of the Paul Laurence Dunbar High
School Indoor Track Team.
Senator Bill Beagle serves the people of Ohio’s 5th Senate District,
which includes Miami County and portions of Montgomery and Darke
Counties.
