Edison
Dean
to Present at HLC Annual Conference
March 30, 2012
Edison
Community College Dean of Institutional Planning &
Effectiveness Mona
Walters will be presenting at the 2012 Annual Conference for the Higher
Learning Commission in Chicago.
This will
be the second year in a row that Walters has presented at the HLC
annual
conference. Her topic this year will be “CQI Processes: Keeping the
Myriad of
Processes on Target and on Task.” At the 2011 conference, Walters
presented
“Breakeven Points: Course Planning and Program Viability.”
“Presenting
at the Annual Conference is an honor and a privilege. The Commission
received
more than 390 proposals for the 150 slots available in this year’s
Conference
programs,” said Walters. “My presentation will be a 30-minute breakout
session
as part of the AQIP Colloquium on Friday when the Conference begins.
Generally,
only one proposal is accepted from each institution, and those
presenting in
previous years are not given first consideration, allowing others an
opportunity to participate.”
Approximately
4,000 people are expected to attend this year’s conference, which will
begin on
Friday, March 30 and run through Tuesday, April 3. The sessions and
presentations provide opportunities for learning and gathering
resources from a
wide variety of sources and networking.
In 2000, Edison Community College adopted
the continuous quality improvement approach (CQI) to organizational
performance, and in 2001 the college joined the Continuous Quality
Improvement
Network (CQIN) and the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) of
the HLC.
Edison is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North
Central
Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA-Regional).
