Principal gets
pie; Asst. Principal kisses goat
Woodland Heights Elementary School…
Friday was an interesting day for Woodland Heights Principal Tammy
Stritenburger who got a face full of pie, and Assistant Principal Lisa
Maher who got to kiss a goat.
The kids (the entire building of kindergarten, first and second
graders) loved it. Tammy and Lisa grinned and laughed a lot, but I
never heard either of them say they had “fun.” Bet they did, though.
It started with a challenge to the student body. The two administrators
told the kids what they would do if the students improved on the
previous year’s “Cookie Dough” sales campaign total of $23,000 raised.
The kids did it. They were only required to get $1,000 more… they got
$8,000 more; a total of $31,000.
You could say they were motivated.
Tammy and Lisa played it up for the kids. Mrs. M had to kiss the goat
twice because the picture was missed the first time. She grumbled a
little. Then while the kids were trying to figure out how much whipped
cream pie Mrs. S should “eat,” Mrs. M solved the problem by building a
small mountain on the “pie” plate.
The kids delivered. So the two administrators delivered, with 200 plus
kids giggling and laughing. The lucky student, Carson Gray, won the pie
honors by a drawing.
Woodland Heights gets about 40 percent of their campaign effort for
class technology, its Ambassador Program and other classroom needs.
