South
School hosted Bullying Prevention Week
February 4, 2012
South
Middle School has focused on creating a safe environment for students
to learn.
This entire school year, the Bullying Prevention Program has been an
ongoing
effort. In September, students took part in a Bullying Awareness
Assembly
sponsored by Darke County Center for the Arts. This was followed up in
November
with an interactive Smart Board lesson on identifying bullying
situations and
provided actions that could be used by students.
The
week of
January 23rd-27th was designated as Bullying Prevention Week. Students
participated in several activities.
One
example was the designing of a T-shirt with kind words on it from other
students. In March, Rob Fulker from Darke County Juvenile Court will be
continuing the bullying program with a presentation regarding the legal
implications involved with bullying. In addition to the programs,
students have
been provided with folders and a student hand book containing
information
directing them what to do if they encounter a bullying situation.

T-shirts for
students to design in order to promote bullying awareness.
