Will Darke County
have a mild winter?
Winter 2012 in the Miami Valley…
So far this “winter,” we’ve only had a few cold days and a couple minor
snowfalls. Snow has been predicted to start Thursday evening and
continue through Friday, probably a tough day today, but I doubt
anyone would argue that so far, it’s been mild. The 10-day forecast takes us back into the 30s and 40s beginning Monday.
Farmer’s Almanac Annual Weather Summary for the Miami Valley says...
Winter temperatures will be near or slightly above normal, on average,
despite a cold February. Other cold periods will occur in late
November, mid- and late December, and late January. Precipitation will
be near or slightly above normal in the east and below normal in the
west, with near-normal snowfall. The snowiest periods will occur in
late November, late December, mid- and late January, and mid-February.
Needless to say, we “missed out” on the "snowiest" periods in November
and December.
Some areas won’t be so lucky. The first photo comes from the Christian

Are we living in the right place or what?
