Finally you’ll hit the bull’s eye
Harless beats
out tough competition
By Bob Robinson
“Aim at a high mark and you will hit it. No, not the first time, nor
the second, and maybe not the third. But keep on aiming and keep on
shooting. Finally you’ll hit the bull’s-eye of success, for only
practice will make you perfect.” Annie Oakley.
That’s exactly what Elisabeth Harless did over the past 12 months… she
set up her targets at 125 feet, the maximum distance that has ever been
achieved, and kept “aiming and shooting.”
It paid off as she was the lone standing markswoman at the 105 foot
mark. It was her second attempt at the title.
Her competition was tough… Alyssa Baumgardner, third runner-up, took
the four finalists to 85 feet before being eliminated at 90 feet.
Rachel Francis, second runner-up, was eliminated at 95 feet, while
first runner-up Courtney Osborne challenged her before being eliminated
at 105 feet.
Elisabeth joins an elite group that dates back to 1966, according to
the Annie Oakley Festival website, http://www.annieoakleyfestival.org/
