everything loves a parade. Just ask the Jimmy and

GREENVILLE- Saturday, as I motored up and down Broadway in my power
wheelchair, looking for a prime spot for my grandson Dylan to shoot the
Annie Oakley parade, I noticed and remembered.
I noticed the crowd that was gathering and seeing many faces that I
hadn’t seen for a few years. I also remembered something my granny said
to me as a young boy.
“Butch,” she would say (Butch was my nickname). “No matter how old you
get remember that everyone loves a parade.”
Now I’m not the biggest parade go’er in Darke County but I still love a
parade now and then. Saturday was a perfect day for a parade as we
honored Darke County’s favorite daughter.
The weather was as close to perfect as it could be and as I looked
around, I noticed that not only did the parade route attract young and
old alike but there was a ton of dogs in the crowd.
Granted, there were many dogs in the parade but there were some
actually sitting and watching with their owners.
One dog owner had his little dog right at the circle. The four legged
creature never missed a thing the whole time and seemed really
interested in the little cars and motorized type vehicles.
It was really sad to see Loretta Jones in a carriage and not on a
horse. This was her last parade as Annie Oakley but she seemed to be
having a good time.
She will be missed.
Regardless, the young, old and the four legged all seemed to have a
good time. I guess everyone and most everything really does love a
parade.
