Delaplane
named BPW Woman of the Year
Greenville,
OH. June 28, 2012 –
The Greenville
Business & Professional Women’s (BPW) Club is proud to announce
that Diane
Delaplane has been named the Club’s ‘Woman of the Year’.
“She has
taken on chair duties as well as an officer of the club...she is very
active in
the community and is on numerous boards of organizations…she has helped
fill in
for getting speakers…and good ones at our meetings.
She has been active in our fundraising
events…she is always willing to help when needed and where needed…she
understands BPW policies and will follow them for the best of the
Club…she is a
conscientious and gifted individual…loyal, dedicated and a hard
worker…she is a
very passionate and caring individual…a great role model and BPW
mentor…very
well deserved”, were just a few comments her fellow members noted when
nominating Diane for this award. She
has
accepted the position of First Vice-President of the Greenville Club
this year.
The Club
presented an engraved award and certificate to Diane to honor and thank
her for
her time, hard work and support to the local Club.
Diane received her award at the monthly
dinner meeting held on June 14, 2012 at Brethren Retirement Community.
When asked
why she joined BPW, Diane answered, “I have watched the involvement and
importance of the Business Professional Women’s Club for many years and
realized the organization is a viable resource for women in many
aspects of
their life and a great asset to our community. I joined for the
friendships,
interaction, learning and sharing aspect.”
Diane feels
the benefits of being a member of BPW are numerous. The group is
supportive in
helping with personal and professional development through speakers and
their
own experiences. They encourage interaction with women of the same
interests
and desire to further develop their career, and to help others get
closer to
attaining their goals. A few of the things she has learned include:
better ways
to protect her, be better prepared in business situations and be
informed of
different entrepreneurs in our area.
She
especially enjoyed hearing of the achievements of our young ladies
during the
BPW scholarship process and the program with Miss Ohio to learn of
their goals
and see what great citizens they have already become.
Delaplane
would like to invite any women during any part of their life to visit a
meeting
or contact a member to better understand what functions the BPW
organization
has to offer. A business person, a professional, a white or blue collar
worker,
a homemaker or youth trying to find direction can benefit from these
great
ladies of the BPW. The
BPW is involved
in the community. Some
of the events
Diane has been involved with include: Breakfast with Santa in December,
Legislative meetings, Fabulous Fall Festival and the support of such
civic
programs as Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake, scholarships,
and the
upcoming First Friday Artisan Corner Event on Oct. 5.
Diane is
currently a board member of Darke County Community Improvement Corp.,
Darke
County Chamber, Red Cross, Main Street Greenville, Union City Community
Economic Development, Visitor’s Bureau, Partner 4 Progress, Community
Action
Partnership, Toastmasters, Big Brothers Big Sisters, League of Women
