Annual Breast
Cancer run brings out the best

GREENVILLE - It’s been said more than once.
“We’ve all been affected by cancer.”
Saturday morning, 530 walkers and runners, not including animals, and
even men in pink, came together for a common cause.
Breast Cancer Awareness.
“Last year there were 526 finishers,” said Shawn Daugherty. “So we are
up a little from a year ago. It’s a very big deal to have this many
people registered for the event because the funds raised from this will
all go to help ladies who are dealing with breast cancer. It goes to
help them cope with life after having to fight a very strong battle in
this disease.”
While the women dealing or have dealt with breast cancer is the main
focus of the event, there is another aspect to which the funds are
directed.
“We also like to promote healthy living, so it’s awesome to have over
500 people out here doing something healthy,” Daugherty said.
According to another spokesman, the men in pink raised over 5,000
dollars by themselves, but well over 10,000 dollars was raised by all
who took part in the event.
To one lucky person, who registered to run, won a car donated by Dave
Knapp Ford, owner of Dave Knapp Ford/Lincoln/Mercury in Greenville.
