Independence Day Celebrations...
New Madison
fireworks entertains 3,000-5,000
CNO Saturday… New Madison Independence Day Parade photos
CBS carried the Boston fireworks Wednesday evening. On Thursday morning
the CBS News showed clips from the Washington DC fireworks on Capitol
Lawn.
Comparatively speaking? For pure entertainment and love of country (and
community) value, the best shows were right here in Darke County.
As promised from CNO volunteer reporter Amy Farmer, County News Online
is proud to show you selected photos from the New Madison fireworks.
Here is her report...
“The show lasted approximately 30 minutes, with the grand finale
lasting 5-7 minutes!!! I cannot begin to estimate the crowd, but
I would venture to say between those who set up at the school and those
who watched from surrounding roads, it’s in the 3,000 to 5,000 range…
pretty good for a tiny little town!
“The New Madison 4th of July Committee and other civic organizations
work together each year to make our $11,000 fireworks display
possible. We hold a golf tournament and other fundraisers
throughout the year and rely on donations from our community and
organizations like the New Madison Civic Organization, the New Madison
Kiwanis, the American Legion and other groups. We also receive
donations from vendors who set up near the school and from local
businesses who advertise in our 4th of July book.
“Without these donations, our event and the BEST fireworks display in
Darke County would not be possible.”
WTGR Tiger Radio 97.5 was also in New Madison broadcasting the sound
track that was prepared for the display.
Also on Wednesday night, Ansonia held its annual fireworks celebration.
CNO would be happy to post those photos if anyone in attendance would
like to share them. On Monday night, the Greenville Eagles held its
annual fireworks celebration at Shade Road...
Three events celebrating the 236th birthday of the United States of
America! Darke County has much for which to be proud!
