Greenville Fraternal Order of Eagles 2177…
Eagles 2177
supports Darke County youth through SSSF
Greenville Eagles recently donated $4,000 to the Senior Scribes
Scholarship Fund for scholarships for Darke County youth. Half of the
amount is specifically limited to children and grandchildren of Eagles
2177 members. The remaining proceeds will be used to help other Darke
County students receive college aid through the SSSF program.
Eagles scholarships, as with all SSSF scholarships, have as their
primary requirements academic excellence and service to the community.
Businesses, organizations and individuals who participate in the SSSF
Business or Memorial Sponsorship Program (donations of $1,000 or more)
may add any additional qualifications, such as sports, 4H or FFA
participation, they wish.
“I’m humbled by the number of businesses and groups willing to open up
their wallets to help these kids,” said CNO Editor and SSSF and Eagles member Bob Robinson said. “I know what the
economy is like out there and I know many of these entities are
struggling themselves.
“But when it comes to our youth, they always seem to dig a little
deeper.”
The Greenville Eagles is (and has been for years) an active supporter
of the community it serves. Donations this year alone have gone to the
Darke County Cancer Association, Breast Cancer Awareness of Darke
County, Girls Traveling Fast Pitch Softball and more.
The organization is currently gearing up for its Third Annual
Independence Day Celebration at Shade Road on Sunday, July 1. While the
Eagles has been sponsoring the Greenville Annual Fireworks for years,
moving it to their Shade Road property has turned it into a major
community event that draws spectators from throughout the Miami Valley.
Eagles membership applications for both Aerie (men and women) and the
Auxiliary (women only) are available in the Social Room of FOE 2177 on
Third Street. Applicants are always welcome.
The Senior Scribes Scholarship Fund has donated $6,000 so far in 2012,
with another $4,000 anticipated in the next few months through its
Business Scholarship Program.
