“Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is more important
than the outcome…”
This was the message from teacher Robert Batty, who was honored with a
standing ovation as he entered the stage to give the Class of 2012 its
parting message.
Graduating seniors in this year’s Greenville High School Class numbered
206. They were treated with a pair of slides for each member of the
class, courtesy of GHS’s IMTV program… a baby picture and a current
picture.
There were lots of cheers and laughter.
The Class of 2012 Valedictorian and Salutatorian were introduced by GHS
Principal Mr. Neff… Valedictorian Andrew Cech; Salutatorian Elizabeth
Horner.
In addition, Mr. Neff presented the Principal’s Leadership Award to Sam
Jones.
Mr. Brown presented two awards: The Eugene Phelps Citizenship Award to
Landen Kiser and the Elizabeth Hill Citizenship Award to Pankti
Bhavsar.
Mr. Torrance presented Cech, Senior Class President, with the Kathryn
Griner Academic Award.
Presentations were also made to Red Cross CORDS, College Prep Awards of
Merit, Career Technologies Awards of Merit and Presidential Academic
Excellence Award students.
Class History was presented by Nikki Wheeler, and Cech presented the
Key to the High School to Lucas Keller, who told the Class of 2013…
“it’s our turn to take over!”
The announcement was greeted with cheers.
Following the “Send-Off” seniors had a bar-b-que, played ball and just
“hung out.”
