May Monte Carlo
event a Hit with Players
Darke County Cancer Association...
About 100 players attended the Cancer Association Monte Carlo this year
on May 5th at the VFW hall. Thank you to all that attended. We were
able to go over a little of what we made last year. We hope we can
surpass that amount next year.
Proceeds help local cancer patients with their treatment and other
expenses.
All games were hits. We had electronic slots and two over and under 7
dice games that were run by Attorney Jim Detling and Past Cancer
Association Director Warren Richards. These two guys made this game
a BIG hit again this year. Editor of County News Online Bob
Robinson was the dealer of the evening. A huge thank you to these guys
that gave their time for us.
There were silent auctions that included donations from the Cancer
Board Members, and cake walks that were baked and donated by the board
members.
Chairman of this event, Dori Howdieshell, thanked all the volunteers
that helped make this year another huge success. Without these
people it wouldn’t have happened. Volunteers for the evening were
Deloris Beisner, Barbara Fee, Sherry Marten, Jim Detling, Bob Robinson,
Eddie Grace Young, Marilyn Emmons, Kay Curry, Warren Richards, Chris
Yount, Pam Bowman and our DJ B&D Karaoke. Thank you again for
another wonderful year of music and fun.
The Cancer Association assists local patients in paying for
medications, mileage, medical supplies, wigs and more, and it only goes
on donations. So ALL of our events are special.

Food was provided by the Moose Lodge #329, Buchy foods, McDonalds,
Women of the VFW, Women of the American Legion, Winners Meats, and

ALL the proceeds stay in Darke County. The next event is the chicken
BBQ on July 7th. You can buy tickets from any board member or at the
