March 8, 2012
COLUMBUS –
State Senator Bill Beagle (R – Tipp City) recently announced that the
Ohio Association
of Career Colleges and Schools is now taking applications for its
2011-2012
Legislative Scholarship Program. The
program offers over 340 scholarship opportunities worth more than $1.1
million. High
school seniors are eligible to apply
and participate.
Those who
are selected may use the scholarships to assist with tuition costs for
certificate completion and associate or bachelor degrees from
participating
Ohio career schools. The
program’s
objective is to prepare students for careers in Ohio’s growing
industries and
businesses.
To apply
for the scholarship, each applicant must obtain the nomination from a
member of
the Ohio General Assembly. Nomination
forms can be obtained from high school guidance counselors. Completed forms are to be
submitted to the
legislator’s office, along with a statement of the student’s current
GPA and a
short personal essay expressing why the student should be nominated for
the
program.
“It is more
important than ever before that students acquire the skills needed to
enter the
workforce,” Beagle said. “This
scholarship program is a wonderful opportunity for any student hoping
to
further their education and begin the trajectory toward a successful
career.”
